We are seeking a General Ledger Accountant to serve as a cornerstone for one of our local clients, ensuring the precision and integrity for departmental reporting. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role offers a unique vantage point to influence the company’s fiscal health by managing the end-to-end monthly closeout process and maintaining financial statements.

Responsibilities for the General Ledger Accountant:

• Applies knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to prepare journal entries, financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis during monthly closeout for properties within an assigned portfolio.
• Reviews financial statements to ensure accuracy, preparing all necessary accruals, amortizations, and reclassifications to complete the final monthly close package and ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
• Analyzes balance sheet accounts for accuracy, preparing detailed balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyzes monthly utility expenses for completeness by making necessary accruals/adjustments and providing detailed variance explanations.
• Reconciles current month cash receipts and performs checking/bank account reconciliations for several bank accounts.
• Participates in the peer review process for quality assurance of work products, including close packages.
• Reviews and responds to requests from Operations regarding property accounting issues and implements corrective actions.
• Participates in general ledger project teams and performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications for the General Ledger Accountant:

• Must possess good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Must be self-motivated to perform timely and accurate work.
• A degree in Business Administration/Accounting is preferred, but direct experience is much preferred, with an emphasis on performing bank account reconciliations.
• Experience with Sage Software is a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel and Outlook software packages is key.

Compensation For the General Ledger Accountant:
$25 – $27 Hourly (DOE)
